Girls and Bicycles advocates ecomobility (walking, biking, and transit use) in North American cities. My blog documents and discusses ecomobility for the urban girl who doesn’t need to sacrifice style in exchange for caring about the environment and making active, sustainable transportation choices.

By day I’m a music (piano) teacher, all the rest of the time I’m an urban girl out and about on my bike or on the bus. My blog act as a sounding board for my various city adventures.

I was working on a zine about women and cycling and realized I had way too much information for my little publication. I decided to start a blog as a sister project so that I could continue to discuss and negotiate my thoughts about women and cycling in sprawling North American cities.

The blog has been up and running for approximately a year.

I am a bad blog monitor, I haven’t set up the diagnostics to observe the traffic yet! However, it has always been my intension to do so.

Nope, my blog is a public service. I don’t receive any income (so far) for running it.

I presume that anybody who is into women’s issues, urban planning, environmental issues, or just fashion (or maybe even my dog, Dougal) might find my blog of some interest.

Depending on the season, I blog a few times a week. Depending on the blog post, it could take my anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour composing a post.

Stylish women on bikes is a revolution! The car loving culture in North America is unsustainable, and sooner or later it isn’t going to be plausible for everybody to drive all the time for all occasions. It would be great of some of us weren’t merely forced into seeking alternative modes of transportation. Why not start now? The urban girl doesn’t have to give up heels or her handbag to be more environmentally aware.

Just be yourself! If people like what the read, I’m assuming they will continue to do so.
