Good Old Rock- Matt Stratton

The personal blog of Matt Stratton, technologist and photographer, from the suburbs of Chicago. Topics include technology, photography, and unicorn conspiracy theories.

I am an IT manager for a dot com. My blog is not my main profession, but I do use it for tech posting, which applies to my “job”.

My “day job” is in technology – the main reason I started blogging my “tech tips” was to have a single place where I could consolidate the tech advice that I would give to my friends. It’s easier to reply to a tech question with a blog post, that many people can use, than just one-off replies to the individual asking the question.

My blog has been around in one for another for about 8 years.

Between 100-150 per day.

My blog does not generate income. I have experimented with AdSense, but only earn literally pennies a day. I found that the inconvenience of the ads for my users was not worth the tiny amount of income. I’m still trying to determine the best way to earn some “passive” income from my blog.

Anyone who has a passing interest in technology, especially social networking or mobile devices…or photography. I also occasionally post interviews with interesting people I know, including an opera singer, a photographer, and another tech blogger.

I spend about an hour a day on my blog.

I think that I provide useful tech tips in a fun way. I believe my writing style is entertaining and casual, and fun to read.

The best advice I have is don’t TRY to succeed – just write and create great content…the readers will find you.
