Alvinology is a light-hearted blog maintained by a regular Singaporean dude called Alvin who lives in Potong Pasir. The content is totally random, ranging from things Alvin experiences to web gossip – basically anything that catches his attention.
Alvin tries his best to update this blog daily and has so far managed to do so most of the time. During periods when he is away (reservist, holidays, etc), archived entries will still be scheduled for publication.
It is important to note that Alvin does not have vested interest in anything or any organisation (sans the occasional omy.sg plug).

Alvin is a 100% geek who spends a lot of time surfing the web.
He has a First Class Honours degree (no kidding, he was a geek even at school) in Communication Studies from Wee Kim Wee’s School of Communication and Information (WKW SCI), Nanyang Technological University (NTU). However, Alvin is a late bloomer who studied in a neighbourhood secondary school and JC. He scored a mediocre aggregate of 245 for PSLE, unlike Singapore’s blogging queen,, Xiaxue, who boasts a PSLE aggregate of 269.
After graduating, Alvin accepted a scholarship from OgilvyOne (Singapore) and started his working life as a graphic designer. Thereafter, he dabbled working with online youth e-zine, UBERTURE as an Art Director and local youth portal, YOUTH.SG as the Portal Manager. Alvin was also one of the designers in THE SIMPLE FOLKS. Proficient in both English and Mandarin, Alvin is currently an online marketing manager with OMY.SG, Singapore’s first bilingual lifestyle and entertainment news portal.
Alvin enjoys the typical geeky stuff – reading random nuggets of gossip facts you find on the web; watching tonnes of movies and DVDs – be they good or bad; collecting old cartoons and toys he couldn’t afford when he was younger; accumulating truckloads of Japanese manga, Marvel and Dark Horse graphic novels; doing random illustrations, a graphic design or a video…
The list goes on.
In short, Alvin has a short attention span and his mind keeps wandering all over the place at any single moment. That’s why he likes the Internet as it allows his scatter-brained nature to showcase itself best.
I started my blog as an experiment to test my online marketing skills (my day job is as a marketeer for a leading web portal in Singapore, http://www.omy.sg). So far, it has been working well.
More than two years. Neither young nor old.
2000 at the minimal and up to 50,000 a day at selected peaks.
No income. I am blogging for passion. Seriously.

I usually blog on weekends. About 4 to 5 hours at a go where I schedule the entries to publish on a daily basis.
Cos I am a simple guy who just likes to share great stories, pictures, events and other things that I come across in my daily life. Honestly.
