The Channel Guide blog is part of channelguidemag.com, a spinoff of and complement to the Channel Guide print magazine. Several writers contribute to the blog, offering current TV programming info, news and opinion, as well as updates to articles written in the print guide. Often humorous as well as informative, the blog categories include Reality TV, Sports and Be Our Guest (a weekly list of guest appearances on talk/variety/news shows).
Tune in to our blog! One look and you won’t want to change the channel.

The blog is part of our job as writers for Channel Guide magazine and channelguidemag.com. We are experts in the television industry, with close network and general industry contacts providing us with advanced programming info, exclusive talent interviews and set visits, and preview screeners to review. What you see on our blog comes straight from the horse’s (or network’s) mouth!

Our monthly print product was not enough to capture everything that we wanted to write about regarding television. Additionally, being monthly, some of the info became outdated (airtimes and titles changed, programs were canceled, etc.) after we went to print so we felt a need to complement the magazine with a continually updated website. As writers, we also felt limited by the print space, and love the chance to write to our hearts’ content!

This blog launched in April 2007.

Generally we receive about 200-300 visitors per day. This can dramatically shoot up based on the topic, and who else picks it up and links to it. For example, our recent posts on the new General Hospital spinoff Night Shift gave us a record 2200+ viewers in one day.

General television fans; reality show fans; soap opera fans; sports fans; high definition programming viewers; fans of good entertainment writing; fans of current entertainment news; those who want an advanced look at what’s coming up on TV from those who are most in the know; fans of web writing from professional writers, which is actually coherent and grammatically correct!

We spend anywhere from 0 to 3 hours per day blogging. Certain days are heavier, as when the Be Our Guest post is updated weekly with new guest information.

You should subscribe to our blog because you will be in the know about upcoming shows and TV entertainment. You will read exclusive interviews with TV talent and set visit reports from hot current and upcoming shows. You will laugh and have fun with most of the posts! You will get unique perspectives from different entertainment writers with different interests and passions — you’re bound to find at least one who jibes with you. Most importantly, you need to subscribe because all of your friends are doing it — c’mon!

Write about what you know and love. Above all keep your own voice, and don’t try to emulate someone else. Let your ideas flow, but also write carefully so people can understand and take you seriously as a writer — read your post through before publishing. Work with other bloggers to get your blog listed on theirs, and vice versa. Be patient! There’s a big Web out there; give folks time to discover you. Even if you don’t get massive viewership, if you have even a few kindred souls who regularly read you and get where you’re coming from, you have succeeded!
