Karyn’s erratic learning journey- Karyn Romeis

blogabout
A catch-all for things that have caught my eye, links to helpful information and the odd soapbox moment… usually related to the world of learning and development, if somewhat tenuously at times!

blogliving
I run an independent learning and development consultancy. I focus primarily on workplace-based learning, but learning is lifelong and lifewide, so it isn’t really possible to draw a line around one aspect of it.

whystartblog
As I was waving my hands about and waxing enthusiastic about learner empowerment, the people around me tended to roll their eyes and stifle a groan. Blogging provided me with a way to connect with other people who saw the world of learning the way I did. The edublogosphere has proved to be an enormously generous and mutually encouraging space.

howlongblog
Almost five years

howmany
I have no idea. I have no metrics in place to keep count. I don’t do it for the numbers.

income
No. I don’t do it for money, either.

interestedblog
People who are interested in education and/or learning. Formal, informal, school, university, workplace or none of the above.

howlongday
It varies. Sometimes none at all. Sometimes a couple of hours. It depends on what crosses my radar on any given day.

whysubscribeblog
I share what I learn about learning. I provide links to other people’s posts. I tend to be regarded as a maverick, because I don’t adhere readily to models, but rather approach every project with a blank slate. I engage with commenters.

If these approaches appeal to you, hop on board. There’s always room for one more!

whatadvicebloggers
That would depend entirely on what the measure of ‘success’ is! If they’re after making money from their blog, I wouldn’t give them any advice at all, because I wouldn’t have a clue. If, however, they’re looking to engage in meaningful discourse with the commuity, I’d say
- adopt your own style of writing
- read, comment on and link to other bloggers
- engage in other social spaces beyond just blogs
