The Dawghowse is a place inside the head of husband, father and Pastor Darrell Garrett. It’s the place where the real me lurks. Be forewarned: It’s probably not what you expect. Sometimes it’s a serious place… sometimes it’s not. Sometimes my thoughts are deep… and sometimes they are just plain weird. Welcome to my world!

I am Senior Pastor of Harvest Church of God in East Galesburg, Illinois. I am an Ordained Bishop in the Church of God, Cleveland, Tennessee and have been active in the ministry since 1981.

I actually started blogging more for personal therapeutic reasons… just to means of getting things out of me, or off my chest.

I started this blog 2 years ago, in August, 2005.

I generally have about 50-60 viewers per day, but have had as many as 200 in a day. My visitors have been down recently because I took some time away from blogging this summer, but it is picking up again now that I am back and actively writing again.

I tried a couple of the income things, but it really was not worth the hassle for me. I did not start this to make money.

That’s a difficult question to answer. My first response would obviously be to say “a Christian.” However, I have many regular readers who are Muslim and other non-Christian backgrounds.

Again, that is very difficult to say. I do not necessarily write every day, but there are times I do. I may write something in a matter of minutes, while other articles have taken me several hours to write.

I try to write my blog in the same manner in which I pastor my church, and that is to be transparent and real before my people. I want them to hear my struggles as well as my successes, and be able to laugh, cry, dance, shout and grow with me in this journey of life as I follow Jesus Christ. I don’t just preach, I live before them. And that is the same thing that I try to convey in my blogging.

Just keep writing!
