The title Salvageable comes from a friend of mine who has been a prostitute, addict and neglectful parent. But she loves her family and friends and begs me not to give up her. “All of us are salvageable,” she reminded me two years ago. I hadn’t thought about that word before then, but now I consider it part of the Gospel. I write about what’s left when life can seem too much. And a lot of what’s left is very funny.

I’ve been calling myself a free agent for a couple of years now. That gives me plenty of leeway and makes me feel important. However, I’m going to work at a university next week, so this agent is no longer completely free.

I began blogging after reading a few blogs that were absolutely atrocious– boring, humorless and badly spelled. I thought, if nothing else, I can spell better than these people.

About fourteen months, and sorry about the short answer, but there it is.

I’m not trying to be difficult, but I really don’t know. Numbers do nothing for me (except confuse me) and it’s always been that way.

No income whatsover, and I can’t imagine– or understand– such a thing. No criticism intended toward those who profit, however.

From the way it looks, a person who doesn’t know me! Not many of my friends are regular readers! Maybe I’m just too literate for them. Or maybe they’re sick of me by now. I would hope that funny, gentle, bemused, sad and hopeful people would be interested.

It varies. I try to post almost every day but usually skip Saturday or Sunday. I’ve spent as much as several hours working on a post and as little as fifteen minutes. Ideally, I’d like to have an hour to work with.

Oh, I don’t really know that you should. But why not give it a try for, say, a week or two– checking in every other day? Maybe you’ll see yourself there, or someone else you like better.

First, define success. If you want big numbers, I have no advice. Go to Google for that. Otherwise, I’d say be honest, talk about things you know or would like to know, and insert some passion. Genuine passion, not the fake kind.

Ann’s blog is completely unpretentious, and the best part is how you get the feeling that she could kick your literary ass at any second, but doesn’t, and that’s gold, baby.

I check on Ann’s blog often. She’s family, so I feel like I know what’s going on better because of her writings. Keep on writing, Ann.
