I work for a public relations agency specializing in digital media. I like to tell people I read blogs for a living – but it’s not too far from the truth. Writing my blog is a hobby but it definitely gives me a unique perspective because I work with other bloggers on a regular basis for my “day job.”
I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 1994, but I had only been working as a diabetes advocate for the last six or seven years. I always was writing on behalf of some other organization, and I wanted an outlet where I could talk about my life and what I really thought without having to worry about an editor telling me what to do.
I started Lemonade Life in July 2005, thought it’s taken on various forms. The most recent reincarnation on WordPress was started last June.
I think between 100 and 200 visits per day.
No, I don’t do any advertising on the blog.
Anyone who is interested in a successful life with diabetes or anyone who is interested in hearing stories about living in the New York City metropolitan area.
I blog about three to five days a week.
It’s an open, honest dialogue finding a balance in life between work, relationships and a chronic illness.
Be patient, be honest and don’t sacrifice your personal life to be “internet famous.” It will never be worth it.
