Bugwalk- Linda Atkins

Bugwalk is about my life and interests, omitting anything that might sever my relationship with my paycheck and omitting criticisms likely to wound the feelings of others. Fortunately, that still leaves a couple of topics. I am an environmentalist and get around by bicycle, I do Buddhist meditation, I accept my body as it is and I do not diet!

I work in I.T. at a large company.

My ex-therapist started a blog and suggested I might like to do the same. “No way!”, I said, but the idea stayed in my head.

Almost two years.

I don’t know; I don’t have a counter installed. I have seven or eight known readers, and would freak out if I discovered I’d had more than eight visitors on a given day: strangers are reading this???

No income. It’s a hobby. Not for profit.

It appears the only people who are interested in this blog are the same people who have to act interested in my anecdotes when we go out to dinner!

I probably spend an average of two hours a week.

It’s not a should, but you are welcome to do so if you like.

It depends on your definition of success. If the goal is to throw a few words out there now and then, there is no way to fail. If you want your blog to pay your rent, I suppose it’s a matter of aggressive networking/marketing and having lots of goodies: pictures, videos, links of interest, repeating features, interactive stuff, pictures of cute kids. (Though I must say I worry a bit about people blogging about their kids. I would have been beyond furious if I’d gotten to be eight and realized my every bowel movement had been described to a million people, all of whom know exactly what I look like. Although it would at least explain why I’d been tormented by my schoolmates and why they all knew exactly which buttons to push to make me hysterical.)
