A Blog about Nothing takes a look at a variety of topics that ranges from politics to religion to science to… Basically anything that interests me and I think readers might enjoy to one degree or another.

This is a hobby though if someone wants to start paying me to do it I’ll not turn them away. I fix computers and if I’m lucky enough to pick up some manual labor from time to time I do that as well.

What topic? When I first started I had intended to make this a technology blog, but I quickly discovered two things.
1) There are billions of them out there already. Some good, some bad, but way to many.
2) I’m just not all that interested in technology. For me it is really very boring.

Since July 11th 2007.

It’s averaging 271 a day according to Google Analytics over the course of this month (August), but my traffic has spiked and over the past 4 days is holding around 2,000 a day.

I’ve made a few feeble attempts at generating some money from it. A few bucks here and a few bucks there, but certainly nothing to write home about.

Since I don’t target a specific niche that’s hard to say. As obscure as this sounds a person like me would be interested in it. If you go to a blog and expect on topic to be covered all the time from every possible angle this isn’t the blog for you. On the other hand if you’re more the type who enjoys reading a regular old newspaper which covers all kinds of things both big and small you’d probably be more comfortable with my blog.

I spend more time looking at other blogs, commenting, and trying to make “connections” than I do actually working on my blog. All in all a few hours a day normally though sometimes it’s more and sometimes it’s less.

I’m not going to try and “sell” my blog to anyone. If you want to subscribe you will and if you don’t you won’t. The only thing I ask is that you try it on for size before deciding if it is worth another piece of real estate in your feed reader or not. Only thing I can say is give it a few days and don’t make a decision for or against based on one or two postings.

I think the biggest thing beyond the usual “hard work and perseverance” angle is to be original. I don’t mean Marilyn Manson original, but stand out from the crowd. It has been said that imitation is the best form of flattery, and perhaps that is true. Still though, no matter how good it might be it is still imitation.
