stuck in fiji

What is button
An editorial opinion on Fiji’s socio-political landscape.

What do you button
Blogging is a hobby of mine at the moment. In time, perhaps there will be some revenue generating activities for bloggers.

Why did you button
Noticed that there was a demand for such an analysis on the socio-political arena in Fiji.

Fiji has 4 coups in 20 years and probably a mile-stone in the maturation of Fiji’s democracy.
I have learnt that the earlier coups in Fiji was derived from mis-information and bias from the Fiji media like the Fiji Times; who have been accused of bias by numerous academic studies like the http://www.asiapac.org.fj/cafepacific/resources/aspac/fiji3148a.html article from David Robbie which was ignored, down played and trivialized by the Fiji Media Council ( a Council made up of media representatives and not independent members from the community).

Undoubtedly, the issue and make up of Fiji’s Media Council is akin to the Fox guarding the Hen house!

how long button
Since May 2005.

how many button
40-50 on a good day.
Who would button
Mostly individuals who have lived in Fiji at the some moment in their life.

How long button
Depends on the topic or issue I’m trying to address. Most of my posts have links to news sources and some days there could be a slow news cycle; which I may not post at all.

why should button
It basically provides an unbiased, factual analysis of Fiji political affairs. It is an accurate snap-shot of the current affairs in Fiji without a racial position. Stuck in Fiji M.U.D strives to address the disconnect and dichotomy existing in Fiji’s society with respect to the pillars of democracy and philosophical logic.

what advice button
Consistency, establishing a moral and ethical standard. As well as having a unique voice that is intellectually even keeled.

  1. Apparently there is some discrepancy in the manner in which the shareholders meeting was convened, violating the standing rules of the company.
Technically, the company secretary was supposed to inform the old board of a extraordinary meeting. Instead, a shareholder’s meeting was held without the 30 day notification. It was at this meeting where the decision was made to remove the existing board and replace it with another entity. Although shareholders have a say in the company direction, they cannot legally defy existing grounds rules of the 1983 legislation also known as the Companies Act (Chapter 247). Here is an academic paper on financial reporting based on that Companies Act. (HOW CAN ONE ACCESS THE ACADEMIC PAPER ON FINANCIAL REPORTING BASED ON THAT COMPANIES ACT?)

It is great that you have your blog running but I would like to know who you are and where you stand in issues you raise in your blog since you put peoples views in your blog and assume quite a bit out these views.

Please do not draw conclusions from any of my letters because they are only a portion of the whole set of letters and opinions and the vast majority of them have not been printed for reasons I don’t know.

If you reside in the US good for you but to make a real change in this homeland we have to have our hands actually get stuck in the mud with hard work. By the way I got to see your blog when I searched for my picture and typing my name your blog came up. SO… I cannot say your blog is not THERE but I have to ask do you really have the coimmitment to see improvement in Fiji or is it just a job (writing/ journalism. Whatever… good on you.

Democracy is a school of thought created by the ancient westeners which has gathered acceptance by a lot of people. Though I may write for what is democratically right it does not mean that I am in favour of democracy as such.
