My blog is my space on the internet where I share my art to the cyber world. I post my doodles there and then I add a few comments to the post. Sometimes I even funny. At least I think that sometimes I’m funny. I’ve been known to laugh at my own jokes—quite often as a matter of fact. I named it “Organized Doodles” because for several years now, whenever someone complimented me on one of my drawings, my response would be, “Thank you. They’re just organized doodles.” So, when it came to naming the thing it only seemed right that I give it that name.

I guess you could say that I am a purveyor of fire insurance. My blog and the doodles that I display there are definitely a hobby. Although I have been busy selling caricatures, logos, blog headers, and cartoons of various sorts to people that have contacted me through there. I call myself the cartoonist for the common man, or wo-man.

Every artist wants (needs) an audience. Nearly as long as I can remember I’ve enjoyed drawing and (I fearfully admit) loved the attention that I received by it. Recently my wife suffered a long battle with breast cancer. The doctor warned us that they were going to throw the kitchen sink at her, and they did. Those were some very dad days. Part of my personal therapy was to draw. Consequently, I had this stack of doodles laying around without an audience to share them with. One January evening, while sitting on the couch I decided to create my blog. At that time I had an audience of none. What a faithful day that was.

Can it have been three years now? Wow! I guess it can. Last January marked my 3rd anniversary for authoring my blog. Use to be I didn’t even known what a blogger was. Now I are one.

I think that I average around 90 hits a day. Is that a lot? Probably half of the hits are from my two sisters. They know what I tender ego I have.

Well, I signed up for Adsence. The last time I checked I think that I earned a total of $1.64. I’m still waiting for the check there.
The majority of the income I get from the blog is the selling of personalize caricatures that I seem to be constantly getting request for. People see the work that I’ve done. Then they contact me about prices. I give them my “more than fair” prices and then we’re off! I use the photos that they send me while trying to put their caricature in a scenario that fits them best.

I have all kinds that have signed up to follow. Big ones small ones some as big as your house. It seems to have a wide appeal. If you’ll just click over you will be adding to the mix. Go ahead. You know you want to.

My goal is to post something new every three days. I try not to make my post too long because I would rather people be able to click in, getting the information they need, and then clicking out. Sometimes I get a little wordy, but only because the subject demands it. So, I don’t devote a tremendous amount of time to it. But I do keep an eye on my count with a fair amount of regularity. I know, I know—it’s all because of that tender ego of mine.

Occasionally I post a “Copy & Share If You Dare” doodle. You can find more details about them on the side bar of my blog, but basically they are illustrations that I give people permission to copy and use for their own purposes. I realize that anytime you post something on the web you’ve lost control over it, but I want people to know that I don’t mind if they “borrow” any of my illustrations marked as such. All I ask is that people leave me a comment telling me when they do so. And, if they’re posting it on their own blog, tell me where. I like to go and visit my doodles and see how they’re getting along.
Also (And I rarely make it known in a public setting like this) on most of my drawings I’ve hidden a tiny eggman somewhere. He’s basically a tiny oval with arms and legs. Many of my return visitors enjoy trying to locating the little guy. He’s easier to find on some doodles than others. Good hunting and good luck.

You have to give people a reason to want to return to your blog. You have to give them something, make them laugh, or even cry, or some reason to come back. As we all know, there area jillion blogs out there, and a jillion times a jillion places for people to surf on the web. People’s taste for something new and interesting is always on the move. If you want people to return, if you want people to tell others about your blog, you have to give them a reason why it’s beneficial to them to do so.

The little “Vote Now” button won’t work for me. Any idea why?
You have to wait 24 hours for it to work again.

Go, Rick!
I am all for Rick and his artistic genius. His choice of colours and perspective on the drawings plays a vital role to making the drawings come alive. Definitely a blog not to be missed!
