A photoblog, with an emphasis on photos taken in New York City.

I’m a public librarian. Photography is one of my hobbies, dating back to childhood, going on 50 years now.

I got into blogging six years ago and in order to learn more about blogging and template design, etc, I made a blog for each of my main interests: reading, comic books, photography, and so on.

It started over on AOL 6 years ago and I moved it to Blogger when AOL stopped offering free storage space for the photos. That was before they added advertising to their journals, I believe, so I moved to Blogger and about a year after that, AOL dropped journals as a service. According to the archives on the Blogger version, the blog started there in November 2005.

I stopped checking about 2 years ago. I figure most people see my entries through a reader and never visit the blog unless they want to leave a comment.

No. I don’t blog for money. I don’t take ads on my blog. In fact, I really dislike advertising on blogs, especially personal ones. I understand companies use blogs to make money, but this is my hobby and I have no interest in making money through it.

People who like photography. And, I guess, people interested in photos of NYC.

Too much time! I have five blogs I post to regularly, so I’d say it’s at least 1-2 hours a day to get something posted on each of them or most of them daily.

I suppose you should subscribe if you like my photos.

I hadn’t thought of my blog as a success, so I’m not sure I’m the person to ask.
Seriously, there are far better and more successful photoblogs than mine. All I can suggest is keep the layout simple and let the photos take center stage. I try to vary my subjects a bit and I follow a regular meme — Thursday Challenge — to inspire me and keep things interesting, subject-wise.
