I teach social studies at a boarding school for adjudicated female juveniles. The blog keeps me writing and in touch with friends.
I began blogging as such to encourage myself to write in a context outside of work. For me everything in my life is integrated on a theoretical and practical level, so I regard a post about politics or literature as necessarily tying into a race report or photo post from a weekend backpacking trip.
In college, reading history and philosophy, I learned that the best way to present a felicitous picture of a whole is to give honest and random portraits of various aspects, and let the reader put them together. That’s what I ultimately want to do about my search for meaning and interest in my life.
Since December of 2006. Around 9 months now.
No clue. I have a couple dozen good friends, from many different states and countries, that read it regularly. I’ve also met some good folks in readers who found it in one way or another, and with whom I’ve subsequently gone riding.
If I ever get to the point where I have double digit comments for even the most mundane posts, and loads of readers I don’t know, I’ll probably kill it. That doesn’t interest me.
No interest in money here, and no intent of ever pursuing it.
A person who is as active mentally and they are physically, and sees no categorical distinction between the two.
One average 30 minutes. Some days I’ll spend an hour writing and editing pictures, some days I don’t even look at it.
I couldn’t do that. You’ll have to find your own answer.
Do it because it provides meaning for your own life, on a daily basis.
