If I Had the Words- Kelly Hopson

blogabout
My blog is a lot like my handwritten journals except my blog is written with the awareness of extra eyes glancing it over, while my handwritten journals are completely candid and personal. I can’t really explain it any better than that. I just write what I feel led to. Somedays that might mean posting about awkward moments and life situations or blogging about serious matters of the heart.

blogliving
Blogging is just a very cherished hobby of mine. It was birthed out of my original passion to write. Whether I have an audience or not, I just love to write.

For my ‘living’ I am a full-time domestic missionary with an organization called BASIC College Ministries. We connect college students to local churches and host bi-annual conferences and other awesome events where hundreds of students gather-whether they’ve never realized the love of God before or if they’ve been walking with Him for years! It’s such a great ministry and I thank God every day that I get to be a part of it!

whystartblog
Originally I started blogging so that I could keep my college friends updated on my life during school breaks. Very quickly though it became my cyber home away from home. I love to write about my life, or share poems I’ve written. Even if no one ever read my blog, I’d still do it because I just love to capture my memories and original thoughts that I have.

howlongblog
I began blogging in the summer of 2008….so, almost 2 years now.

howmany
It fluctuates depending on the topics. On average I’d guess that I get about 50 hits per day. That’s just an estimate though because I don’t keep track that often.
There was a time though when I would get hundreds of new visitors every day for two weeks! The cause was a post I’d written about meeting Kate Gosselin. You wouldn’t believe how many Kate-haters crawled out of the woodwork to let me know just what they thought of her, and me consequently, for being a fan of hers. Add on to that the fact that for every two negative-Nancys who visited my site, there’d be one kind soul who’d visit just to defend me in the comment sections. It was a very funny but insane time for me!

income
No I don’t make any money from my blog. I’ve had advertising offers in the past but since you can never be too careful, I never accepted any of them for fear of falling victim to a scam.

interestedblog
If it’s music that you love, you’d enjoy this blog because I am a music junkie and I love sharing songs I’ve just discovered as well as songs that I’ve loved for years.
If it’s Jesus that you love, you’d probably appreciate my site. I’ve been a Christian for six years and it’s a major part of my life. It definitely shows through in my writing. How could it not?

howlongday
I don’t write daily on my blog. I’ll post a new entry at least once a week, sometimes more. It usually takes me an hour per post, depending on the content.

whysubscribeblog
I’m someone who enjoys finding humor and satisfaction in the little things of life which is definitely reflected in my writing. If you can appreciate that kind of writing, you’d want to subscribe to my blog. My posts are candid and from the heart. In fact, everything about my blog is an honest depiction and snapshot of who I am which is part of the reason I love it so much.

whatadvicebloggers
Don’t write to please anyone but yourself. What’s the point in writing if you’re just going to mask yourself? If you’re honest in your posts and do get a following (large or small), then you’ll be able to rest easy knowing it’s because they appreciate your thoughts and style of writing rather than some closely-censored version of you.
Read as many blogs as you can! I think it’s good to see what other writers are saying and more importantly, HOW they’re saying it. That’s how you can sharpen and fine-tune your own written voice.
