No Smoking in the Skullcave is the blog of a pop culture junkie/ aspiring illustrator & pin-up photographer. Becca approves of William Shatner’s singing career, adores Bettie Page, admires Isaac Asimov’s wit and wishes she could be whisked away in the TARDIS by the 9th Doctor.

Blogging is indeed just a hobby, my real job involves running a bookstore. It’s not as cool as it sounds trust me!

I am a life long pop culture junkie and all around nerd so blogging seemed like a great way to share my interests and some of my illustration art and retro pin-up photography with simular people around the world.

It’s been about 2 and a half years now but it took something like 6 months to really find my groove.

Skullcave gets between 200 and 250 visitors a day.

Not really. Originally I had decided to go ad free but money troubles a few months back caused me to give Google AdSense a try. Unlike alot of advertising options out there it’s simple to use and doesn’t slow page speed. I only take in about $4 a month though so it’s not putting food on my table or anything.

Anyone who loves movies, science fiction, comic books, art and pretty girls would enjoy my blog.

I have a lot going on in my life these days (the illustration and photography work takes up a great deal of my time) so I only post 3 to 4 times a week. As far as how long it takes me to create a post I’d say anywhere from 15 minutes to 2 hours depending on the size of the post.

Because it’s so much darn fun to read and there are pictures of pretty girls…who doesn’t enjoy a pretty girl.

Not to be cliched but just do it…
I’ve received so many emails from people whove read my blog and would like to start their own but they are too afraid they wont have the technological skills to do it. I always tell them if they really want to do it then they should. It’s easier run a blog than you think!
…but once you start it keep it going, commit to posting on a regular basis even if it’s only a few times a week. There are too many abandoned blogs out there don’t let yours become one of them!
Also find other interesting blogs to read for inspiration, maybe leave some comments too. I find that’s the best way to attract other people into visiting and reading your own blog.
