Independent film reviews by an independently minded movie critic

blogliving
I run several internet-based businesses, including this one which started out as both a hobby and a personal challenge to see if I could go to the movies in a theatre every day for an entire year.

whystartblog
I was the film critic for my high school newspaper, so when I had the opportunity to take some time off from my career, I thought I’d pick up the pen (in this case the word processor) and return to my writing roots. Since 12 January 2006, I have published over 550 movie reviews of films I saw in the theatre at a rate of what was 1 per day in the first year and is a little less.

howlongblog
I have been blogging about movies, officially, since 12 January 2006, but long before that unofficially via email lists to my closest friends.

howmany
I average 1200 vistis per day at the present time with about 1400 page views.

income
movieEVERyday.com does have an income stream from ads and affiliations.

People who want a good summary of the film before or after they see it. People who want an unbiased, non-industry insider view. We all know that it’s much harder to slam a film when you just got to meet the three stars and they were so kind to you or you met the director at Sundance. My reviews are from my gut after seeing the film. I tend to like movies that most people like, not the other way around. I don’t like art films because they are art, I like them or hate them because they are good or bad. I also rank all movies on a much broader scale than the A-F or 1-5 stars scales most critics use. I rank movies on a scale of $3-$15 as an indication of how much I would be willing to spend to see a particular movie. I have a running list of all my rankings for the year, so you always know my top 10 of the year. This bigger scale gives me more room to fine tune how I feel about a film and for my readers to look and say, “Well I loved film X and he rated film Y higher, so I’m probably going to like film Y, or vice-versa). Even if they would have ranked films higher or lower than I did, they have a barometer to see where they fall on my scale.

howlongday
I spend a minimum of 3 hours per day working on my blogs many facets from the movie star birthday tributes to the coming soon page to the DVD release calendar, all the elements take time.

whysubscribeblog
Within seconds you can find out if a movie is going to be one you’ll likely to enjoy or not. I also, at the request of fans, began publishing spoiler points on many films. These are fun for fans to discuss and add to.
