I am a fulltime mom who blogs to past time. Somehow, blogging makes money so it is like a job now. A well-paying one too.

Before I have this blog, I already have two food blogs and a rather popular personal blog. 5xmom became the brandname of my personal blog at http://chanlilian.net. So, I bought the domain name http://5xmom.com just for fun. Since it was dormant, I decided to share some of the blogging tips with mostly my regular readers from the personal blog.

I have been blogging since 2003 but I started to see the potential in making money around 2005. In fact, I started to instal Adsense since August 2005 which was my first method of making money.

On this particular blog, it is 500, mostly from organic traffic. My personal blog has about 3K per day.

I was once quoted by Paula Mooney to be one of the bloggers making an income and I ranked #64. In my country, I am one of the few who earns a five digit income per month. (USD1 = 3.4 Ringgit Malaysia)

I cater for the masses, i.e. those who wants to start blogging. Normally, I receive questions from newbies on how to start a blog and etc so I use my blog instead of replying to emails.

A lot. But like all moms, I can manage multi-tasks so I never really calculate the hours. I get distracted easily and I like to learn so I do spend a lot of time reading and learning new stuffs.

Because you do not often get a Chinese woman who blogs about making money.

Don’t try too hard. Don’t turn to blogging with the aim of making money. Give yourself several months before you can reap the benefits. First of all, blogging is about enjoying the fun of writing.
