A Little Slice of Life- Melora Zucker

As my title says, my blog is a little slice of my life in stories and pictures. I try to find humor in every day things and make people laugh. I also like to tell longer, multiple page stories and have a couple of different sub-blogs including a trip report to Disney World and another about the story of adopting our youngest daughter from Russia. I also love to take pictures and try to include as many pictures as I can.

I am a full time mom. My blog is something I do for fun.

I have always written since I was a very young kid. I love to make up stories but I never finished any of them. When I discovered other peoples blogs I thought, WOW I could write short stories that didn’t require chapters, flow charts, outlines, an attention span and all that other fun stuff that novels require. I also found there was enough stuff in my own life to write about that I didn’t have make stuff up.

I started this blog right before Halloween last year (2008).

It depends on whether I am actively promoting it. If I do nothing it gets about 10-20 visits per day, but when I write regularly and tell people about it can get 50 or more. I don’t think its been around long enough to have a huge following (YET!)

I have no income at this time.

I think that anyone who understands that life is funny, difficult and endlessly fascinating would enjoy reading my blog. But also moms who understand that kids are funny without even trying. Even if you don’t want them to be!

On the days that I post something I spend about 45 minutes writing the first draft. Then if it needs tweaking I will come back in a few hours and re-do it.

I always try to post something new and different. The more subscribers I have, the more motivated I will be to post every day that I can.

Just keep writing. Not every story will be funny. Not every entry will roll off your fingers with ease. Sometimes no matter how hard you try nothing comes to you and thats OK. Don’t try too hard. If you are having trouble, stop and come back later with a different perspective. In all likelihood with a fresh start that entry will feel like it writes itself. And don’t be afraid to abandon an idea that isn’t working out. Just because you don’t feel like you are as good as another blogger doesn’t mean you wont get better. Practice makes perfect and it takes a while to figure out what works and build up a good following. It doesn’t happen overnight. The best bloggers have been doing it for awhile and if you read some of their first stuff, its not nearly as good as its become.
