The Journey to an M.D. and Beyond- Ella

Ella

blogabout
A journal of my quest to become a physician … and my experiences in medical school starting at day 1, age 30. Also thoughts on specialties, advice for pre-meds, medical ethics and issues, interviewing help, and inspiration for anyone who wants to start over in life.

blogliving
I’m a medical student, of course. This blog would be significantly less interesting if I wasn’t. I used to be a high school teacher, a researcher, an epidemiologist, and a million other lousy things until I finally decided to do what I really loved. I just blog to release stress, vent, and document my journey through medical school.

whystartblog
I have, say, a rocky academic background… and I was a very unlikely candidate for medical school. I just wanted to prove that you could make it to medical school on sheer tenacity alone… and then I wanted to inspire others who were in the same boat.

howlongblog
I started it just before medical school began in July 2009.

howmany
Several hundred usually.

income
Nope. Never tried. I have just been doing this for fun.

interestedblog
Pre-meds, medical professionals, nurses, patients, people who like sagas and drama, bored people.

howlongday
Probably more than I should… it’s very easy to get distracted while studying. But I usually just write when I have something to say. My guess is somedays NONE. Most days 10 min. Occasionally… an hour.

whysubscribeblog
I write frequently so there is always something new to read… and it’s kind of a mix of a soap opera, med school, and self-help. HIGHLY entertaining!

whatadvicebloggers
Write passionately, and don’t censor yourself our of fear someone you know will find you. They will anyway… and this way, when they do find you you at least won’t be boring.

  1. I cant believe that a few of the internet pages I have been taken to by stumblupon (only just today this web site) I was seeking to pass a few dull 60 minutes away, when stumbleupon dropped me right here. What a tremendous resource site you possess I am so thrilled to have located it I have just spent the previous twenty mins running through several of your posts, and have also bookmarked some of them. I will defiantly be returning to read a bit more when i have abit more time.

  2. Just about all of the things you claim happens to be astonishingly accurate and it makes me ponder the reason why I hadn’t looked at this with this light previously. This particular piece really did turn the light on for me personally as far as this specific subject matter goes. Nonetheless there is actually 1 issue I am not too cozy with so while I try to reconcile that with the central idea of the position, let me observe exactly what all the rest of your subscribers have to point out.Nicely done.

  3. Zune and iPod: Most people compare the Zune to the Touch, but after seeing how slim and surprisingly small and light it is, I consider it to be a rather unique hybrid that combines qualities of both the Touch and the Nano. It’s very colorful and lovely OLED screen is slightly smaller than the touch screen, but the player itself feels quite a bit smaller and lighter. It weighs about 2/3 as much, and is noticeably smaller in width and height, while being just a hair thicker.

  4. Love this blog! Hysterically funny with some drama and thoughtful pieces all wrapped into it. Refreshingly upbeat! Well done, Ella!

  5. Between me and my husband we’ve owned more MP3 players over the years than I can count, including Sansas, iRivers, iPods (classic & touch), the Ibiza Rhapsody, etc. But, the last few years I’ve settled down to one line of players. Why? Because I was happy to discover how well-designed and fun to use the underappreciated (and widely mocked) Zunes are.
