I’m currently studying English at university, and I write the blog in my spare time.
When I was 13, I was inspired by Cassandra Claire’s Very Secret Diaries to start keeping a humorous diary to show to all my friends. After a while I decided to open it up to a wider audience, in the hopes that they’d enjoy reading it almost as much as I enjoy writing it.
I’ve been writing it since 29th June 2005. So that’s 3 years, 8 months, 24 days; or 117,936,000 seconds. Y’know, give or take.
Well, let’s see, it varies a LOT! It was maybe 40 a day before I was Blogger’s Blog of Note; right now it’s closer to 2000. Crikey.
I get absolutely no income from my blog. I toyed with the idea of using Google Adsense, but decided that it wasn’t in the blog’s best interests. As far as I’m concerned it’s been totally successful, as the blog was primarily for myself anyway! I’m proud of what I’ve achieved, I even taught myself HTML and CSS to get it looking the way I wanted it to. I intend to keep making it better, especially since other people have responded so positively!
It’s never easy to predict who’s going to find you interesting. My readers are students, mothers, middle-aged radio presenters, my beloved geeks… basically, all I ask is that people give it a chance – maybe I’ll surprise them.
I spend about half an hour every three days or so writing posts, and I suppose half an hour a day reading other blogs. I view reading them to be as important as writing, since the blogosphere – ugh, I hate that word – is a community after all.
Well, you probably shouldn’t, not unless you like it anyway! Ok, subscribe because I cover such a huge range of topics that you’re bound to like some of it, whether you’re into philosophy, funny videos, good TV, or the random musings of a 21-year old English student.
As the saying goes, “If you build it, they will come.” Post regularly with good content. Try to improve your blog – not to get readers, but just to make it something you’re proud of. If you’ve got that in place, the rest doesn’t matter so much.

I am a follower of Mandy Bennet`s blog and like it very much. Have not visited yours yet, but I`m sure it must be good and interesting or you wouldn`t have so many voters for you.
Did you know what Mandy wants to do with the money, in case she wins?
She is taking great interest in a project some of our blog friends have been supporting for years – sending school items, like pencils, exercise-books, school books, chalk…to an elementary school in Mozambique. Now in last year`s cyclone the school roof has been destroyed, and the children (about 200) have to do without. We have asked a local builder to make a new one and also build benches and desks, so that the kiddies don`t have to sit on the ground. And we are trying to raise money for this purpose.
Just thought I`d let you know.
