When I was 13, I was inspired by Cassandra Claire’s Very Secret Diaries to start keeping a humorous diary to show to all my friends. After a while I decided to open it up to a wider audience, in the hopes that they’d enjoy reading it almost as much as I enjoy writing it.

Well, let’s see, it varies a LOT! It was maybe 40 a day before I was Blogger’s Blog of Note; right now it’s closer to 2000. Crikey.

I get absolutely no income from my blog. I toyed with the idea of using Google Adsense, but decided that it wasn’t in the blog’s best interests. As far as I’m concerned it’s been totally successful, as the blog was primarily for myself anyway! I’m proud of what I’ve achieved, I even taught myself HTML and CSS to get it looking the way I wanted it to. I intend to keep making it better, especially since other people have responded so positively!

interestedblog
It’s never easy to predict who’s going to find you interesting. My readers are students, mothers, middle-aged radio presenters, my beloved geeks… basically, all I ask is that people give it a chance – maybe I’ll surprise them.

howlongday
I spend about half an hour every three days or so writing posts, and I suppose half an hour a day reading other blogs. I view reading them to be as important as writing, since the blogosphere – ugh, I hate that word – is a community after all.

Well, you probably shouldn’t, not unless you like it anyway! Ok, subscribe because I cover such a huge range of topics that you’re bound to like some of it, whether you’re into philosophy, funny videos, good TV, or the random musings of a 21-year old English student.

As the saying goes, “If you build it, they will come.” Post regularly with good content. Try to improve your blog – not to get readers, but just to make it something you’re proud of. If you’ve got that in place, the rest doesn’t matter so much.
