A Dress A Day is a dress, mostly every day. And it’s vintage sewing, fabric, feminism, general-purpose ranting, and a healthy disdain for the Handbag-Industrial Complex.

For a living I evangelize about dictionaries, and edit them sometimes too (that blog is http://www.dictionaryevangelist.com). A Dress A Day is my hobby.

I wanted there to be a blog solely about dresses, and there wasn’t one. So I figured there had to be other people who were interested in vintage dresses, and decided to start a blog!

I started blogging in May 2005. For the first year or so I blogged nearly every day, including weekends, but now I am just doing Monday-Friday.

About six thousand. Six thousand lovely people, who leave great comments (although not every person comments every day)!

I do make a little money from Google Ads and banner ads. I don’t work at it, though, and I probably could charge more. But I like having ads from businesses that I support, instead of just some flash-y nonsense from whoever has the most money to waste on the Internet this week.

Anyone who loves vintage style, fabric, sewing, or (I’ve been told) writing.

Between the two blogs, answering blog-related email, and guest-blogging stints hither and yon, it can be a couple of hours.

Actually, I don’t think everyone should subscribe to my blog. If you *really* love dresses, then maybe you could. But if you don’t, there’s plenty of other stuff to read on there on the internet. (How’s that for reverse psychology?)

If you don’t love what you’re blogging about you will get sick of it really, really quickly. So be in love with your topic!

Just a quick note. I really enjoyed the quick interview with Erin. I can say without hesitation, Erin is always curteous and kind, even when some deserve just her being curt. She has a wonderful outlook on life and has enlightened me with her blog, especially when it refers to fashion ( vintage ). I hope her upcoming book does really good. I know I will be online to buy it.
Respectfully,
Jim

Erin blog is a must for me. It is #1 of all the blogs to which I subscribe. Erin writes a series of vignettes titled Secret Lives of Dresses that can on occasion move one to tears. And, without being preachy invites she often us to participate in helping women in need.

It sounds like you’re creating problems yourself by trying to solve this issue instead of looking at why their is a problem in the first place.

Brilliant post, nicely done. And thanks for mentioning all those blogs – you have introduced to me to three new blogs and I love them all! Cheers

I got this top as a gift from my beloved cousin who died in a car accident around 2001. She liked to give presents to her cousins every time she went back to our home town on Christmas (she worked in a big city). So, I’ve owned this top for quite a long time (I think she gave this top to me on 1999).
