Drunk Mummy offers both entertainment and a welcome alternative for those who need a break from the world of competitive parenting. It aims to restore a sense of perspective by uncorking and reviewing a bottle of wine (for under £10) with each post.

I am currently ‘resting’ from the world of paid employment, and bringing up three irritatingly boisterous children.

Because the sort of extreme child-centric parenting I see around me is just too funny not to share.

Since March 2007

400-500 unique page loads. Less at weekends.

No, the blog has no income. Since I started blogging I have managed to gain twenty pounds, but all of that is on my thighs.
The blog has been successful in that it has been read far more widely than I would have expected.

Anyone who is fed up to the back teeth of earnest finger-wagging about how to bring up their children, or how to be a ‘better parent’.
Anyone who likes to drink wine but hates the pretentiousness of other wine appreciation sites.

A couple of hours - far more if I am being ’sociable’ and visiting other people’s blogs. There’s so much great stuff out there, you could be reading blogs 24 hours a day.

You might find something refreshing in contrast to the barrage of guilt-inducing literature about being a parent.
You might be tempted to try a wine that has been reviewed (all are under £10 and from supermarkets or national chains).

Be prepared to devote far more time to blogging than you thought you would be prepared to devote.
