PS22 Chorus- Gregg Breinberg

The PS22 Chorus blog showcases the accomplishments and talents of the fifth graders involved in the group, which is comprised of about 70 New York City public school children. They’ve sung for and with the amazing singers Judy Torres, Lena, and the legendary Tori Amos! After hearing them perform, Academy Award-winner Marcia Gay Harden invited them to sing at her home for her Christmas party. A video featuring the chorus is presently being exhibited at WTC Tribute, The World Trade Center Museum. The chorus has gotten over half a million hits on the videos posted on the blog. So visit the blog to experience for yourself some of our best moments highlighted on audio, video, and in pictures.

I am a music teacher in Public School 22 in Staten Island, New York.

I began the blog after receiving several requests from Tori Amos fans who were very interested in hearing the children’s interpretations of Tori Amos’ music.

The blog was created in September of 2006.

The average traffic to the chorus blog has varied from anywhere from 40-100’s visits daily throughout the past year.

We did not create the blog for any kind of income.

Teachers (music teachers), principals, educators in general, musicians, singers, children, Tori Amos fans, Judy Torres fans, Marcia Gay Harden fans, Matthew Modine fans, American Idol fans, and anyone with a heart for music and kids.

The amount of time I spend blogging depends on the activity of the chorus.

You should subscribe to The PS22 Chorus blog because it has inspired many for a multitude of reasons. It is also the testament to the importance of keeping music in our schools.

My advice for bloggers to succeed is to find your own slant or angle to offer something that is unique and worthy of posting.
