For as long as I’ve called Key West home, I’ve been capturing the Colors, Critters and Characters here on Cayo Hueso in paintings, drawings, photographic studies and the written word.
KEY WEST THE BLOG is a photo-journal from a local’s perspective and, in pictures and words, I share the news and my views of our island life.

I’m a self employed Artist, Designer and Art Director. It’s all not as much a job as it is a lifestyle.

Mostly to share the experience of tropical island life with friends and family up north. Now the blog has a global following.

I started in May, 2008

It varies but I think on average I would say 500 to 1000.

I didn’t create the blog as a profit center but I do publish e-books, an annual calender and sometimes a T-shirt design. The blog also carries google ads so it’s made a few bucks in those ways.

My readers are anything from other photographers to real estate agents. Basically they are folks who might be thinking about a trip to the keys or who just have an interest in alternative lifestyles.

Depending on the size and depth of the article, sometimes 10 hours, sometimes 40 minutes and sometimes no time at all.

Key West the Blog is visually stimulating, informative and light-hearted.

Be passionate, topical and even when you think nobody’s reading it, just keep doing it.

The purpose for this blog is mainly to give back to the community. Basically, I look around for all the projects about TI’s OMAP 3530 Processor, beagle board (http://beagleboard.org/), which is like a computer with SD card slot, USB ports, HDMI output, DSP (Digital Signal Processor), which helps offload some work from the OMAP 3530 processor in order for smooth functionality. All the above functions are on a 3in square board. Then I test all the projects myself that are happening in the beagle board community & give a personal feedback about it.

This used to be my job. I used to work at Texas Instruments until May 2010 as a Beagle Intern. But, I cannot make blogs anymore. If there are any comments on the blog or questions through e-mail, I can still address those.

There are endless possibilities that can be done with beagle board. There are many interesting projects coming up such as Beagle Bot, which is a robot that runs on beagle board; Beagle Board based kinematic real time GPS receiver; Beagle Board based Auto-Pilot system for RC Airplanes; & much more. I worked on this blog for 10 months. At first it was my job, then it turned out to be my hobby.

I don’t have a exact count, but based on the comments & e-mails I get per day, I am thinking approximately about 100 visitors. Some of them are the same people who know my blogs very well.

The person that would be interested in this kind of blog would be someone who is like a computer wiz, someone who likes to play with electronics, someone who wants to learn something new every now & then. Basically this blog would be interesting to anyone who is interested in computers & engineering.

When I used to work at Texas Instruments, I used to spend approx. 3 hours each day blogging. Right now, I don’t work at TI anymore, so I cannot make blogs, but I still can address comments & answer questions via e-mail.

This blog is really interesting to the majority of college students who are really interested in any kind of information technology fields such as computer science. This blog would also prove interesting to engineers.

I would say that, try to include more attractive pictures. Basically, try to do what I did. As you can notice, most of my blogs explain the purpose of a particular blogpost through pictures and videos. Pictures talk faster that words and are more interesting.

Writing is cathartic. I love to write and share my heart. I also love to write about the books I am reading and my favorite new products! What can I say? I love being a woman!
I also was inspired by my grandmother to write about my life…so that one day my own (future) children would be able to look back and know more about their mother when they cared enough to really know her as a person…not just their mom!
I have also incorporated my love of sharing stories through photography on my blog.
