The blog is called “Starke Reality” because I was born, raised and as my blog byline states, am “Living in the reality that is Starke and writing from that perspective. Sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don’t.” So sometimes I publish things that strike my funny bone and sometimes more serious stuff. I try to have a “Quotes of the week: and “Question of the week” regularly [duh! hence the "of the week" bit]. I also publish sermon outlines and devotionals. Very eclectic.

By avocation, occupation, vocation I am a preacher. That is currently in the form of a pastor [though I have been a Songleader, Youth Director, School Teacher, etc.]. It is a calling rather than a job. if I had not been called I would not be doing this. That is not to say I don’t emjoy it- it is just stating the facts.

A friend had been using some of my material on her blog and then because she totally misunderstood something I said that door was closed. It dawned on me I could do it myself and here I am.

I started in April of 2006. Hey, that means I am coming up on my 4 year anniversary! Anyone want to throw my blog a party?

You know I hadn’t checked in awhile. I’m glad you asked that question. I get an average of 35 unique visitors a day. And here I thought I was writing for myself.

No income that I know of. It has been more successful than I thought since I really started it just for me. People who like me read it to see what I have to say and some people who don’t like me read it to find fault (lol).

Anybody with a sense of humor, a touch of spirituality, a ounce of patriotism, a smidgen of commonsense or a hankering for trivia could find something in a week’s time to interest them. Looking back I am surprised myself at the variety of things packed in this little blog.

Anywhere from 5 minutes to 5 hours! Of course I don’t mean I sit in front of the keyboard all that time but sometimes the thinking is a long process. Obviously sometimes it is not.

There is literally something for almost everyone. Friends let me post some of their interesting things so there is a mix of authorship and I also try and direct folks to other good spots on the web. Rarely is a blog very long and a quick fix and you are on your way!

#1 Blog for yourself. If others enjoy it well and good but you can’t control that aspect of it. Blogging is therapeutic for me. Plus I might be able to lift someone’s burden- that’s nice.
#2 Keep blogging. I didn’t know an average of 35 people were reading this until the question was asked me. I was thrilled. I remember being happy that my wife read it!
