I am Saltzworks- Amy White

blogabout
If I have to, I’d say my blog is a how-to craft blog for a hopeless on-the-cheap recycler and scrapbooker, a sometimes journal of family life, and a little bit vacation travel log, all created by a terribly dyslexic librarian. That’s my blog in a Twitter worthy snapshot, if I Twittered that is.

I am a full-time librarian at a local public library. I have two hobby blogs, one for each personality, when I get brave enough there will be one more. I do all of it on my own time, it’s all just one more hobby to add to my collection of “I know how to do this…”
There is my Saltzworks blog; me as a camera toting mother of older-and-married kids with one 8 year old late-in-life child, an addicted crafter, and a traveler-when-I can.
Then there is my alter-ego; a crazy children’s laptime and storytime loving librarian who collects fingerplays, songs and share-worthy books.
Eventually I will have every booklover’s wanna-be blog theme; life as a celebrity author.

whystartblog
A few years ago I had a library patron come to me with an assignment to create a webpage and a blog. I had heard the word blog before, but was pretty clueless when it came to knowing what it was. We Googled, and as every good librarian does when needed, I learned along with my patron.
Once I learned how, it was a simple step to do. I created my I am Saltzworks blog. After a few months the owner of a scrapbook company I worked for as a design team member asked us all to blog teasers and ideas for the monthly kit. I was an avid scrapbooker, okay, I still am, and I loved being able to learn new techniques, write about them and post photos of the finished products.
After the company closed its doors, I kept on going in my own way. There is now a bit more variety to my projects. I love posting craft how-to’s and inspiring ideas, but I also include photography from vacations and the occasional ‘just life’ post.
My laptime and storytime blog was created to store my collection of fingerplays, songs, and storytime ideas in an easy-to-search and access format.

September 2006 was my first post. I was clueless. February 2007 is probably a more accurate date for when I truly started to blog.

Saltzworks gets 60-100 visitors a day. I have no idea why. How does anyone find me? Can anyone clue me in?

The Laptime and Storytime blog currently gets 10-20 visits a day. That one is easier to understand, its librarians and storytellers looking for fingerplays, books and other story time ideas.

income
I do not make money from my blog. To be truthful, I do have the blogger ‘make money’ link things, I am pretty sure I’ve not made any money from them. Although, I don’t think I would know if I’ve made any money, wouldn’t they have emailed me?

Three types of people that would enjoy my blog – I think~
If you like stumbling on a craft/scrapbook/how to idea and want to learn how to do it yourself, you will like my blog. In particular if you like creating eclectic, recycled and useful items, oh, and if you like getting scrapbook page ideas.
If you ever wondered what it’s like to be married for over 25 years and have two independent, grown and married boys you might like my blog. I occasionally post about them. About as often as I see them that is. It’s not often.
If you have some burning need to know what it’s like to have a little bonus child (there is a15 year gap between my youngest kids) then you will enjoy the occasional tidbits that I get to post on life as an older mom.

howlongday
Uh, you want the honest truth? I spend as little time blogging as possible, maybe an hour or two a month. My philosophy on scrapbooking holds true in blogging: Life is meant to be lived. Of what use is a life spent blogging if there was no life lived. Live a scrapworthy life, then scrap it or blog about it.

whysubscribeblog
If you subscribe to my blog you might find something to inspire you, you might stumble on an aha-moment photo, you might find some hidden comment that makes whatever you were drinking come out your nose. Or, you might just be bored to tears at my somewhat normal but way too busy life.

whatadvicebloggers
That’s simple. Do what you love. Live life like you only have a few good years left. Oh, and if you have dyslexia, edit, edit, edit.
