blogabout
Harry McFry is a genealogical detective based in the north west of England. His latest case is to find the ‘missing’ family of Laurel McFry (no relation!). En route, he discovers more about himself, and his own family, than he bargained for.

blogliving
Thomas Hamburger Jnr is a fashion designer and journalist who has always wanted to write fiction – this is his first stab at it.
It’s a passion he shares with Paul Etherington, who is an NHS manager and the ‘real’ author of Harry McFry.

whystartblog
I liked the idea of a genealogical private eye, and drafted a couple of spoof chapters for my own family history website. I found I enjoyed the process so much, I couldn’t stop!

howlongblog
The blog went live in late January 2007, when I posted the first four chapters of Harry McFry.

howmany
Harry is getting an average of about 50 visitors a day just now, but it occasionally jumps up as high as 120 or so. Not bad, out of an estimated world population of 6.6 billion!

income
I haven’t experimented with advertising on Harry McFry – it doesn’t seem appropriate.
I’d like to think that, someday, Harry will get published on real paper and be seen in real bookshops, though.

interestedblog
Anyone who likes a good mystery, laced with a little humour. Harry’s a great guy, really – but he gets himself lost, here and there, and I’m sure readers must think he needs a good kick to get him back on track! There’s an underlying romantic thread to the story, too, as well as historical interest, centered on the Spanish Civil War.

howlongday
About 2 to 3 hours, spread between Harry McFry and my other blogs – including a diary about the writing of Harry.

I think (hope!) I’ll be finishing Harry McFry’s Case of the Missing Family in the next couple of weeks.

It’s not too late to navigate to Chapter One, and see if you can solve the mystery before Harry does!

For newcomers, I’ve included a short ‘movie’ summarising the story so far, which can be found at the top left of the blog.

Keep at it!
I’ve been amazed that Harry has picked up a loyal readership who have stayed along for the ride – even after 100,000 words and almost 6 months of writing.
As someone famous once said ‘Build it, and they will come!’
