I’m a photographer and writer. My personal web site is an outlet for my writing, which is focused on what it’s like to live in Hong Kong from both a foreigner’s viewpoint as well as a local’s perspective.
I started my web site to stay in touch with family and friends, and because travel brochures suck.
My site was started Oct. 1, 1998.
It varies upon time of year, but it ranges between 150,000 to 500,000 unique visitors per month.
The site has a few sponsors and affiliations to help defray the cost of my hosting (I don’t use a free blogging service). I don’t want the site to be overloaded with ads, so I prefer to use text ads instead of banners. This seems to make visitors happy.
Anyone who is interested in learning about, visiting, or living in Hong Kong. Anyone with a good sense of humour. Anyone who appreciates having fun.
As little as possible. I don’t consider my site to be a typical blog, and I try to post articles that are educational and interesting — therefore I may go a couple of days before creating new pieces. But there’s a ton of great content aside from what folks see on the main page; if they hit the site map they can have a lot more fun catching up.
You might just like my sense of ha-ha, and that the site is family friendly. No bad language; no naughty bits.
Write with passion, and don’t tell people what you ate for lunch. Unless your blog is about food, they don’t care.
